 Salt
Lake City is a vibrant college town and the state
capital of Utah, it is primarily a family oriented
community that caters to good clean living. It is
perhaps best known for two important reasons. First,
the city was founded by members of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the Mormons.
Secondly, it was host to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
Taken together, these two events give a strong sense

sense of religious ideology that is the basis for
much of the city's laws and lifestyles. Meanwhile,
in this magnificent mountain setting, outdoor activities
are popular with the area's residents and a strong
draw for tourists.
Salt Lake
City encompasses over 109 square miles at an elevation
of 4,266 feet. It is bordered by the briny Great Salt
Lake, said to be seven times as salty as the average
ocean, and the Wasatch Mountain Range. The city supports
a population of just under 182,000 residents, whose
median age is a mere 30 years old. The average annual
household income in Salt Lake City is around $40,000
per year. The median home value is $120,300. The three
largest employment sectors in the city are retail
trade, professional services and manufacturing. Finance,
insurance, information technology and wholesale round
out the employment sector. It should be noted that
there is little variance between these sectors, in
terms of the number of jobs provided in each category.
This gives Salt Lake City a well rounded economy,
and likely to remain strong despite any potential
blip in one sector.

Salt Lake City may best be known as one of the finest
winter sports capitals in the world. Boasting powdery
runs for skiers and snowboarders, the area offers
seven world-class resorts within 45 minutes of the
Salt Lake Valley. Locals and visitors alike can take
advantage of some of the most modern infrastructure
in the world, thanks to the work done to facilitate
the Winter Games. Salt Lake City boasts a streamlined
transportation system, world class sports and training
facilities and easy access to unforgettable ski and
snowboard runs.
 The
Winter Olympics also resulted in an explosion in the
hospitality industry. While the majority of restaurants
in the city cater to locals' meat and potatoes desires,
there are a number of choices to sample cuisine from
the Middle East, Europe and Asia. In order to accommodate
the families-first feel of the area, nearly every
restaurant is child friendly, as most residents consistently
dine as a family. This area also benefits from some
of the most professional and hospitable service of
any American town. And while many locals do not partake
of coffee, tea, or alcohol for religious reasons,
the state of Utah leads the state in consumption of
sweets. Because of this, you will find plenty of bakeries,
ice cream parlors, and sweet shops dotted throughout
the town.
While many in America believe that Utah is basically
a "dry" state, those who choose to partake
of an alcoholic beverage certainly have that option.
If you dine in a restaurant, you may order a drink,
as long as you also order food, are over 21 years
old and order between the hours of noon and midnight.
For nightclubs and similar venues, patrons must be
a "member", although temporary membership
cards, good for three weeks, are usually sold for
a few dollars.
Salt Lake
City is a place of natural wonder. The spirit of the
community's residents is neighborly, hospitable and
